Presentation Portrait of Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig, 1928

A full-length portrait of Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig, 1st Earl Haig of Ypres (1861–1928), photographed by Bassano in full dress uniform with baton in hand. The mount is signed by Dorothy, Dowager Countess Haig in 1928 and inscribed to HMS Spey, a P-class sloop of the Royal Navy.

This work reflects both Haig’s enduring legacy and Lady Haig’s tireless commitment to veterans’ welfare after his death. It was acquired by the Heroes in Focus Foundation in 2025 as the first historical piece in the foundation’s archive, now housed at the Rory Lewis Studio in Los Angeles.
