Corporate Headshots in Los Angeles: Attorney Emily Fu (Rory Lewis Photographer 2026)
For an attorney, a headshot is part of the case they make before they ever meet a client. It sits on the firm's website, on LinkedIn, in bar association listings, pitch documents and speaker programmes. It has to say capable and trustworthy, and it also has to say approachable, because people choose a lawyer they feel they can talk to. When Emily Fu came into my Downtown LA studio, that balance was the brief.
The classic legal headshot
We shot on a cool graduated grey, the backdrop I recommend most often for law firms. It's neutral and clean, it matches easily across a team's attorney profiles, and it sits comfortably on any website or directory. The light falls slightly brighter behind the subject's shoulder, which lifts her away from the background and gives the image depth without drawing attention to itself.
Wardrobe that works
Emily wore a charcoal blazer over a simple black top, finished with a small gold pendant. It's a near-perfect choice for legal headshots:
A tailored dark blazer reads as professional straight away, without the stiffness of a full suit and tie.
A plain, dark top underneath keeps the eye on the face, with no patterns or logos to date the image.
One small piece of jewellery adds a personal touch and a glint of warmth against the dark tones, without distracting.
