Thank You to Dodho Magazine for Featuring Soldiery

Thank You to Dodho Magazine for Featuring Soldiery (Rory Lewis Military Portrait Photographer).

I am incredibly grateful to Dodho Magazine in Paris for featuring my Soldiery project in their recent article. To see this body of work recognised by an international photography platform of such calibre is both humbling and deeply meaningful.

Soldiery has always been a project rooted in history, identity, and the enduring presence of the modern soldier. Over several years, I had the privilege of working closely with members of the British Armyโ€”capturing individuals across regiments, ranks, and backgrounds. The intention was never simply to document uniform, but to reveal the character, discipline, and humanity behind it.

As has been noted in wider discussions of the project, Soldiery stands as a contemporary reflection of the modern British military, capturing its evolving face while preserving a sense of tradition and continuity.

For a publication like Dodhoโ€”an international community built around photography and visual storytellingโ€”to highlight this work is particularly special. It reinforces the idea that portraiture, when approached with intention and respect, can transcend borders and speak to something universal: service, identity, and legacy.

This project has taken me across countless bases and brought me face to face with extraordinary individuals. Each portrait is a collaboration, a moment of stillness, and a record of a life lived in service. Recognition like this helps ensure those stories continue to be seen and remembered.

My sincere thanks again to Dodho Magazine for their support and for sharing Soldiery with a wider global audience.
