There’s a certain kind of actor who arrives in the studio already carrying weight — not ego, but experience. Brian Durkin is one of those actors.
Working with Brian in my Los Angeles studio was about refining that presence — stripping things back, sharpening the signal, and creating a set of headshots that feel immediate, grounded, and unmistakably castable.
A Career Built on Depth and Consistency
You’ve seen Brian across both film and television — often without even realising just how extensive his body of work is. From appearances in Stranger Things, The Walking Dead, Brockmire, Anchorman 2, and Footloose, to his work in Killing Reagan and upcoming projects including Superfly and Netflix’s The Highwaymen, Brian has built a career defined by consistency and range.
Since beginning his acting journey in 2004, he has appeared in more than 45 productions — working alongside some of the industry’s most respected names including Kevin Costner, Woody Harrelson, Denzel Washington, Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford, and Kenneth Branagh.
What struck me immediately is that Brian doesn’t “perform” for the camera — he arrives as the character.
The Session — Precision Over Performance
Our session focused on clarity and control.
No overacting. No unnecessary variation. Just subtle shifts in energy, eyeline, and intent.
That’s where strong headshots live.
We explored a range of looks — from neutral, casting-forward frames to more editorial, cinematic portraits. The goal was simple: create images that agents and casting directors can read instantly.
Authority without aggression
Approachability without softness
Intelligence without overstatement
This is the balance working actors need in today’s market.
The Result — Presence That Holds the Frame
The final set delivers exactly that.
A strong, grounded base image that works across breakdowns. A lighter, more open expression for commercial and network casting. And a deeper, more cinematic look — ideal for film, drama, and prestige television.
Every image feels like Brian — just at his strongest, most distilled.
The Actor Behind the Work
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and raised across Georgia and Florida, Brian brings a unique combination of discipline and lived experience to his craft.
Before acting full-time, he earned a degree in Building Construction Science from the University of Florida, followed by an MBA in Real Estate from Georgia State University. That foundation — structure, focus, long-term thinking — still shows up in his work today.
After moving to Los Angeles in 2001, he trained at the renowned Howard Fine Studio, where he quickly advanced into the Advanced Scene Study program — a reflection of both his talent and commitment.
Today, Brian lives in Sandy Springs, Georgia with his wife Mary Catherine and their two children, continuing to work across film and television at a high level.
Why These Headshots Work
Strong actor headshots aren’t about looking different.
They’re about being clearly understood.
Brian’s session is a perfect example of what happens when an experienced actor meets a guided, actor-first process:
Clear casting type without limitation
Emotional accessibility without overplaying
A cinematic aesthetic grounded in realism
This is what the Los Angeles market responds to.
