I recently had the pleasure of photographing actress Echaka Agba at my Midtown Manhattan studio. Echaka is an exceptional talent whose work spans film, television, and theatre, with standout performances in We Grown Now (2023), Chicago Med, South Side, Work in Progress, and the award-winning short Runner. Her ability to move effortlessly between drama, comedy, and deeply human storytelling has made her a rising presence across the industry.

Echaka’s career continues to expand—she has appeared in acclaimed series such as The Chi, The Red Line, and Soundtrack, and has brought compelling roles to both stage and screen, including her work at Chicago’s Broken Nose Theatre. Her versatility and grounded emotional range make her a remarkable subject to photograph.

For her headshot session, my goal was to create portraits that reflect Echaka’s strength, warmth, and cinematic presence—images that capture both her professional gravitas and her natural, expressive individuality. Using crisp, directional lighting and subtle tonal contrasts, we crafted a set of portraits that highlight her storytelling power and on-screen charisma.
