This recent portrait of Jordan Patrick Smith is part of my ongoing project, ChronoVisions: An Epochal Fusion, a series that brings the mysterious allure of the Chronovisor into the realm of modern photography. Inspired by an array of artistic icons, including Frank Herbert, Caravaggio, David Lynch, Gustave Dore, and Ribera, this project is an ambitious exploration of historical eras through the lens of contemporary portraiture.
Capturing Jordan Patrick Smith: A Portrait Session at the Los Angeles Studio (Rory Lewis Photographer 2024)
Across this series, I photograph actors and models adorned in the elegance of the 1930s, set against historically resonant backdrops. Each portrait becomes a temporal bridge β an echo of what might have been seen through the Chronovisoritself. Drawing influence from Frank Herbert, Caravaggio, David Lynch, Gustave DorΓ©, and Ribera, I merge surrealism, chiaroscuro, and historical drama to craft scenes that feel both ancient and immediate, suspended between dream and memory.
