Sir Lindsay Hoyle Portrait Sitting

Sir Lindsay Hoyle has served as Speaker of the House of Commons since 2019 and as the Member of Parliament for Chorley since 1997. I had the honour of inviting Mr Speaker to sit for a portrait inside the Palace of Westminster, capturing him within the historic House of Commons Chamber — a rare and significant opportunity.

This portrait forms part of my ongoing project Britannia, an exploration of the historic offices of British state and tradition. The series seeks to document the individuals who uphold these enduring institutions, reflecting their roles, responsibilities, and the legacy they represent.

Throughout my career, I have been commissioned to photograph a wide range of political figures — from local councillors and Members of Parliament to peers of the House of Lords and former Prime Ministers. Yet this sitting was particularly meaningful, offering a chance to create work within one of the most iconic settings in British public life.
