Colonello Reggimento "Lancieri di Novara" (5º)
Soldati della Repubblica constitutes my second major military portrait project. Following on from Soldiery British Army Portraits, my aim to capture the modern face, tradition and history of the Esercito Italiano.
The 5th Cavalry "Lancieri di Novara" where the subjects of my final series of sittings, taking place on 5th March 2019 at their barracks in Codroipo.
The Regiment was created on December 24th, 1828, by decree of the King of Sardinia Carlo Felice, with the original name of Dragoni di Piemonte. The Lancieri di Novara continue to serve The Republic of Italy to this day and have distinguished themselves in many campaigns.

James Cromwell Portrait Sitting New York
James sat for a photoshoot in New York last month; the portraits where taken for for my Selah project. Directing James I asked him to imagine he had taken a long pilgrimage. Now reaching the end of the journey, my impetus was to capture a man of faith who is almost pensive, taking the time to meditate and reflect.

Saint Jerome Writing, also called Saint Jerome in His Study or simply Saint Jerome, is an oil painting by Italian painter Caravaggio. Working with model Frank Weitzel who assumed the role of St Jerome, we created living depiction of the work. Deciding to retain Frank’s Tattoo adds an interesting flair to the portrait.

In his depiction of the doubting apostle Saint Thomas, he holds the spear that he was martyred with near Madras. The portrait inspired a recent sitting for my Selah project, with Actor Tony Amendola. Tony boasts a noble profile, sitting for me several times over the past few years, he is one of my favourite subjects.
