Cinematic Sessions: Los Angeles

Between 2014 and 2020, I had the immense privilege of photographing some of Los Angeles’ finest actors—artists whose work shaped my childhood in the 1980s and 90s, and whose performances continue to resonate across generations. Many of these remarkable individuals have since left us, which makes these sittings all the more meaningful.

During those years, Sasha and I travelled to Los Angeles several times annually, each visit filled with anticipation and gratitude. We were fortunate to meet and work with legendary performers whose careers spanned The Shawshank Redemption to Star Trek, Broadway to Disney, and beyond. What began as portrait sessions often grew into friendships, and I remain deeply honoured to have captured their likenesses in my distinctive style.

These sessions marked a profoundly special era in my life—moments where we were able to “touch the stars,” meeting icons while they were still with us. They also shaped my desire to one day make Los Angeles my home. The city’s extraordinary diversity of faces, cultures, and artistic talent left a lasting impression, ultimately inspiring my move here, where I am now proudly based.

Actors such as William Shatner, Bob Gunton, Richard Herd, Tony Amendola, Armin Shimerman, René Auberjonois, Gregory Itzin, Tess Harper, and many more stood before my lens, offering their presence, their stories, and an enduring spirit that lives on in their portraits.

This project page is dedicated to them—to their artistry, their humanity, and the legacy they have left on stage and screen. It is a celebration of those unforgettable years and a tribute to the legends who helped shape my path as a portraitist and my journey to Los Angeles.
